This payday weekend, the Power Plant mall brings back the Rockwell bazaar to the tent.

Rockwell Summer bazaar

Stop by Leyende, which sells proudly Philippine-made organic skin care products. If you're like me who's not really into mass-produced drugstore stuff, Leyende is for you.

IMG_7686

The scents are not overpowering, the packaging is minimalist, and as Mich Dulce says, the names are cute.
My favorite is the oil called Massage in a Bottle. It's light, non-sticky and subtle. I also like the little flower inside.

IMG_7690

Leyende is the first thing you'll see. You can't miss it.

IMG_7693

Right next to Leyende is a hand-painted accessories shop called Baubles, Bangles & Beads.
I was drawn to these hand-painted totes featuring our favorite childhood junk food staples, Chippy and Chocnut. This makes me hungry.

Priced at around Php 1,600, the handiwork is simply amazing.

Next stop was Googoo & Gaga, which thankfully has sizes now for my boys ages 5 and 7.
I picked up four tees with crazy prints in the softest fabric, I can't wait to show the boys tomorrow.

IMG_7697

Got to meet the artists, Audrey and AJ Dimarucot, who were doing brisk sales today.
Prices are at Php 695/piece, or Php 650/three or more pieces.

Bitch Dulce is back selling hand-made hats and clothes for girls who want something different.

Meet and greet the designer/milliner who can be spotted manning the booth, if not searching for the best frozen yoghurt in the vicinity.

The cutest baby shoes can be found at Tip Toey Joey selling the comfiest Chuck Bass-inspired baby loafers. No socks necessary!
They have shoes for baby girls too.

These tees make you want a baby all over again.
Nationalistic and fanatic baby clothes by The Urban Baby are priced at Php 450-550 each. Sooo cute!!

My kumare, Cher Anonas sells not-your-typical breastfeeding clothes at Plume.

There's a tinge of retro-chic in these dresses that newbie mom Cher thought of while nursing my godson.

Still on the retro theme, I love these baby blankets outside, priced at Php 750 each

Human Touch pillow cases and home accessories are now in Manila care of Me & U, which recently opened on the 3rd level of Eastwood Mall.

Human Touch

Human Touch is one of my favorite places to shop for gifts in Bangkok. At some point we even inquired about bringing it here.
So glad somebody finally did it, so no need to hoard in Bangkok.

And while you're at it, try our new Beef Teriyaki at Pepper Lunch at the Concourse.

It began at Bonifacio High Street. I stopped by the Speedo shop where I saw that a full range of Comme des Garçons sportswear was being sold.

IMG_5226

The swimwear range includes female racerbacks, two-piece and powerback swim suits, and male 8cm brief and jammer shorts.

Speedo x CDG

Non-swimming items include male and female warm up jackets and pants available in both woven and knitted versions. A female ¾ pant is also available in woven fabric.

There's a cute little mini skirt, male and female short sleeve T-shirts, polo shirts, technical shorts and board shorts. In Manila, the collection is available at Bonifacio High Street, Glorietta 4, Robinsons’ Place Manila and SM Megamall.

Next I dropped by Dimensione where Bench Pinoy Lab has sprung up in one corner.

IMG_5068

I was attracted to the the kitschy recycled tarpaulin tote bags being sold for only Php 129. Knowing fully well I have too many tote bags at home, I still couldn't leave Piolo and Jon Mullally behind. So I bought them.

Tonight we ended up at the Powerplant mall where our friend, Ingrid Go, has opened the Accessories Lab with her partner Dina.

It's a rich, kikay girl's haven on the 2nd level of the mall.

We passed by the Levi's store. There was this oversized canvas messenger bag I really love. I love oversized. But it costs Php 14,999 with a pair of distressed cropped jeans with holes. Jeroen stopped me. I am still thinking about it.

Finally, another friend, Ruby Gan, opened the Chocolate Schu Bar a few steps away.

Another Croc incident

From my Inbox:

Subject: Dangerous Crocs!

Dear Friends,

I just want to warn you that if you own Crocs sandals, it's not a good idea
to wear them in the malls. Just a few days ago, this is what happened to my
nephew who got his foot trapped when his Croc was jammed in an escalator in
Rockwell. Luckily there was a good samaritan who was able to stop the
escalator in time. The strap on the sandal caused gashes on his foot until
(the sandal) broke off and was swallowed by the escalator.
The poor kid was in shock the rest of the day but he's fine now.

After the incident, there was a parent who approached my sister-in-law. He
told her their nephew was not so lucky because his nephew was limping
and bleeding when his Crocs sandal got caught in the escalator.

As of this writing, Crocs distributors have not responded to their
complaint.

Take care!

Regards, Balds
