I don't want to offend my Japanese friends who read this blog, so I'll keep this short. Y'all know how I love Japan, but the one thing I don't get is the sex thing cause I'm manang like dut.

My friend Pia lives in Hawaii and has a Japanese friend who loves all things Filipino—from the Sex Bomb Dancers and Sarah Geronimo, to Boy Bawang and Clover Chips.
Pia's friend wanted to learn Tagalog and got this book called "Philippine Slang."
Cute cover, but its contents are enough to make you choke on your sushi or whatever it is you're having at the moment.

this also happens the other way around, i've seen regular 'learn chinese, japanese, or korean' books where the filipino translations are way diluted.

well, somebody agreed to publishing it, right? haha! lolz

when I first read this in the office (while doing client research)
hindi ko kinaya. I've lived in the UK for almost 2 years, but I am manang like that. as in I hate PDA, kahit pa lasing ako, I can't do it.

but the second time around, patulog na ko, natawa na lang ako.
maybe this is the vulgarity we need to teach in sex ed.
nang matigil na ang population boom at unwanted pregnancies.

The book isn't surprising but then my jaw dropped reading your caps from it and add that it has an audio cd. (o_0) This is much worse than the English-Japanese book I read over at Barnes and Nobles. I LOLed on that one though but this... much worse... Sumakit ulo ko, di ko kinaya. LOL. I'm forever manang.

At least I know how to say those, won't be using though. *shakeshead* Dyusme sana di madiskubre ng jowa kong hapon ito. Very afraid. LOL

hahaha who would've thought that what seem to be innocent things might contain not so innocent things...

i'm surprised that there would be books about filipino language 'cuz it seems only a few are trying to learn filipino but i'm happy that there would be people who wanted to learn the language...

i guess since it's slang, it would contain those things...
but they should put something about being an adult thingy...what if it's a kid who gets to read it...

there's no milder translation for those things, eh?
...wonder how the audio would be?

but...ugghh...i don't wanna hear those things...

Did my undergrad degree in Kyoto and was initially shocked to see similar literature (and some truly sick manga) but after a while the novelty wore off. It's quite understandable that this book has a huge market (or at least a decent size one) because a lot of Japanese "golf" tourists need it. I can imagine them editing the books with a Pinay barmaid present to help with the spelling. ;-)

I'm new here at lj but i've always followed your blog. Sad to say but there are people who really speak that bastos way. I've had a promiscuous housemaid once, she borrowed my extra cellphone one time coz hers was broken and when she returned it some messages and images were retained in my fone's memory.
Suffice it to say, I got the shock of my life when I saw her pic naked from the waist up and there were also explicit text messages. Super yuckee! After that episode i made a feeble excuse about not needing a maid anymore. eeewwww!
