Ayaw ni Steve Jobs!

I was already feeling sad when I thought I wouldn't be able to watch Tears for Fears on May 2nd at Araneta Coliseum. But while looking at my iCal earlier, I realized I will be back from my trip to Singapore on May 1st. So there was this mad rush to buy tickets since I forfeited my good seats last week.

Tears for Fears in Manila

Buying concert tickets at SM Megamall always stresses me given the money we're paying, I never get VIP seats before the 10th row. This is because all the freaking sponsors block those seats and just give them away—sometimes some seats never get occupied and you see all these empties in front of you. What a waste!
So I went back to SM to buy tickets. It took such a long time because they have a really archaic way of seat choices. They have this clearbook with xeroxes of the seat plans and the salesperson looks at this really, really old computer screen where she can't see the whole seating plan.

Ancient computer

As in she has to open each section of seating to tell you what's available. It is such a tedious process.
After working with her for about 15 minutes I told her, "Miss, can I just look at the screen para I'll know what you're looking at. We'll be done in two minutes. You know when you check in sa plane online you can choose your seats. Or kahit sa sinehan diba you can choose your seats? I can't see kasi what you're looking at. Puede ba iharap mo na lang sa akin?"
So she did, and guess what I saw? MS DOS, que horror! She was looking at a black screen with green letters.
OK, this was not her screen, but you get the picture. There was no seat plan, only numbers and letters of what's available.

I wanted to shout, shout let it all out. Nakakaloka at nakakaawa. Isn't SM the richest man in the Philippines?
Ticketnet should really invest in new computers and a new computer program. I mean seriously. Hindi ko kinaya.

OMG! ANTIQUE! MSDOS! copyright 1981,82! i wasn't even born yet! LOL!

panalo yan. magandang i-graphic tee ito!

my gulay!!!!

comsci ako and it's not hard at all to make a seat reservation system. jusko!!

i should propose something to SM. baka yumaman ako!!! $-) hahahaha

please do! not MS DOS ha.

What?! it's so cheap to buy a basic pc just for the purpose of booking tickets and seats noh! And to think their ticketing system is supposed to be one of the biggest! @_@

hello Ms C..

Kaloka nga yun! ... majority of establishments converted to the newer versions of gadgets.. tapos sila hindi? oh my .... i usually rent at SM NORTH edsa cinema the block (cn 3 and 4) and dami pera un out of my rentals ha.. ako pa lang .. what more lahat na ng tenants nila hehe .. kaya pala ang tagal din mag compute everytime i asked for our bill statement ... hmm now am thinking baka ABACUS naman ang gamit duon?

were u able to get the tickets?

thanks
doc divine

i got tickets. what are you renting there?

my business kasi is a nurse review center named MERGE .. and we rent 2 cinemas during review season at sm north edsa cinema 3 and 4 usually .. kulang kasi kami ng classrooms in our office here in qc .. and majority of review students from caloocan, bulacan etc prefer SM based venue na rin since proximal or transport accessibility wise .. we improvised lightings and desk tables para may sulatan pa rin sila.. nilalagay namin sa slot for the drinks ..

u got good seats? hmm meron pa kaya ako makuha?

can we be friends?

thanks

docD

kaya nga naging richest eh, kurips hehehe

just look at Megamall, ang laki ng mall pero pathetic ang mga restroom/cr. Kainis pa, when you want to wash your hands nakaharang lahat ng mga female employees of tenants brushing their teeth or reapplying make-up or worse, washing their dishes!

This had me in stitches!

I wonder if they save their data on diskettes. Diosmio.

kaya pala sometimes they say naka-hang or offline. pretty sure they use diskettes. they still sell those in Recto, by the way

Diskettes like the ones where you put a sticker on to write-protect it? Windows 98 is not even supported by Microsoft anymore.

Naalala ko tuloy my first ever job in the US some time ago. The job was with the New York office of a swanky company that was (and still is) number 1 in its industry worldwide. You'd think they'd have state-of-the-art technology, right? So imagine my horror when I realized that my colleagues and I had to work on PCs like in your photos above. Green monitors, DOS, WordPerfect for documents... yikes!

Mahal ata kasi pos system, baka ms dos based pa. If they change it all their tenants have to change it din! Pero kuripot talaga. I heard they charge their employees for Drinking water sa dispenser and use of microwave in the pantry!

Next thing you know the PLDT operators are still using switchboards O_o

Oh my goodness...are you kidding me? I never never never expect any business would ever ever ever use this nowadays....stone age? I can't help but laugh.

que horror tlaga kung MS Dos!!! jusmio! mamammia!!! nakakaloka naman pala ang SM! haha

I don't even know how to use MS DOS anymore. O.O

I was wondering if SM may kasalanan sa lumang system kasi Ticketnet is under Araneta Group yata.

Naloka din ako when I saw the old system pero mas ayaw ko ang printing nila ng tickets. Sometimes ang labo, or parang nabubura na! I always get so paranoid baka sabihin ng usher sa Araneta na fake yung ticket kasi ang labo ng print. A far cry from concert/play/show tickets issued in our neighboring Asian countries.

i was not surprised to read this. when i was still working for a sy-owned company (won't say which), we had to buy our own gallons of water for the dispenser. in our whole building, there was not a single pantry where we could eat. and no canteen either. we had to bring baon (or buy at nearby megamall -- love your own) then eat lunch at our desks. no tissue in the CRs, either. and when we had to use our own out-of-pocket expenses to say, treat clients out, it would take MONTHS before we were reimbursed. sometimes, the accounting would even question certain expenses which were in fact 100% legit. and oh, must i add that when we had to use our own cars to visit clients, the accounting would reimburse our gas for only P10.00 for every km.

No wonder he's the richest man here

Natumbok mo, pare. :)

Believe me when I say that money can't buy everything. Like class, taste, breeding, or plain old compassion...

When I worked for Rustan's in 2003 we had to use dial-up in the office and share 2 computers with internet connection across 8 people. HAHAHAHA oh Pilipinas.

bakit kaya sila matipid sa sarili, samantalang lahat ng suppliers are asked to pay a certain amount (big amount) for the PO program etc etc etc. negosyo talaga. BTW, walang COLGATE (and other items supplied by the same suplier) sa supermarkets nila. nasaan ang truth in advertisement ng "we got it all for you"?

what's PO program and why no Colgate?

PO = purchase order. So you know it's got something to do with leveraging lower costs for bulk purchase...

I think Colgate is back on SM shelves. I haven't checked in the supermarkets (coz I don't shop there--most stuff are more expensive) but I did see it back in Watson's, just yesterday. They've probably worked out something.

Now, you would know that the no Colgate thing would have something to do with the PO order thingie...

Don't bother lining up na at Megamall. Go to Podium instead. The Customer Svc/Info booth there at the entrance sells tickets to events too. There's never any line (I guess bec not too many people know that they sell there too). That's where I usually go to buy tickets. Got my Tears for Fears tickets there. Was done in a jiffy!

I had the same experience with Ticketnet booth in Eastwood, although dun naman Windows 95 pa ata. That's why I like getting tickets in Ticketworld better, kasi they have online reservation and payment na.

so maybe that explains why SM cinemas do not have reserved seating!!!!! Di pa nila keri!!!

true!

oh my gulay! nakakatawa nga and kakaawa..tooooiiiinnkkkk!!

shout, let it all out ---LOL!
