Bonding with Markus

The first child is always special because it's like you and me against the world.
Whereas the second child gets less attention, well because you now have two to worry about.
I've found that the second child is no less special, in fact I get more gigil with him the more I get to know him.

I had two dates with Markus recently when we left the two sick boys at home.
On Sunday we saw Spongebob live in Megamall. We had to line up and wait like normal people because Tita Jiki is no longer at Nickelodeon.

On Monday we had that dreaded trip to the dentist Markus was anxious about.
The night before I was telling him how in the olden days his lolo had to pull his own teeth using a string tied to the door and showed him how it's done on YouTube.
He cried so much, but on Monday he was psyched because I promised him a trip to the toy store.
We had a small drama in the car, but I managed to take him all the way to the top floor of the Megamall Atrium, to a place called Little Ones Dental Clinic.
We had never been there. I had seen it in the mall and made a mental note to check it out one day.

The first thing we did was fill up the form while Markus checked out the stuff.

The young Dr. Rufino called us shortly. I didn't take more pictures during the procedure as Markus held both my hands tightly. Let me just say they are so good with kids. Everything comes with a story and explanation. Everything came out smoothly, especially Marky's two lower "teef" which they put inside a tiny treasure chest for the Tooth Fairy.

We are no longer scared of the dentist. At the end of our visit Markus told me he liked the doctor and thought she was pretty.
Markus has a thing for health care givers in white uniforms, promise!
Bought his wrestling toys at SM, went home and proudly told the sick boys what happened.
I give this place five stars. As a mommy, I'm very grateful.

That treasure chest is adorable.

When I was a kid we just waited for our teeth to fall out by themselves. (Once mine detached while I was eating spaghetti, ugh.) Were Markus's teeth especially stubborn?

very. he had two shark teeth growing in the back, so I wanted them out na.

Whoa! That's kind of cool. (And probably uncomfortable.)

Ate, that's so cute!!

the best! they gave him stickers after

We had the same dilemma. I had a hard time convincing my son to go to a dentist. The yearly dental clearance was a requirement at his school and we had to ask a nearby dentist to sign the form on the premise that my son would come back for the actual check-up since he was having tantrums. We didn't and I felt guilty about it. No amount of prodding, convincing would make him go to the dentist. Last year, we saw the clinic at SM MOA and made the same promise that I would buy him his favorite toy. We went inside and he felt so at home right away upon seeing those toys and colorful artworks. It also helped that her nanny and the dentist were patient enough and made him feel comfortable. We went back last May and it was a breeze! He told me that he can do it by himself and I that I need not to accompany him inside the room. His dentist also said that my son has a perfect set of teeth - no problems at all. Happy!!!

yay! same with Markus, perfect teeth

Hi! I'm a daily reader of your blog. I once made a comment when the house infront of your grandmother's house caught fire (I live in the same street).

I also go to Dra. Bertha Rufino in Megamall even if the clinic is for kids. She is very nice and patient. Her hands are as light as a feather. I'm glad your son Markus is no longer scared of going to the dentist. I was scared too before I met Dr. Bertha.

thank God!

The same with me, for my first child, para nga it's me and you against the world ang drama, but yes my second child is like that too, he is never less and as I get to know him more, mas gigil din hehe

Now that I will be having my fourth child, it's almost the same dilemma as having your second child..

Oh I linked you up on my blog.

I was always wondering about that dental clinic for kids each time my son goes for a haircut at cuts for tots. At least now I know it's good. Thanks for this post. It's great to discover place like this that is really child-friendly. I myself have restaurant lists wherein they're kid-friendly and places that are not. Makes deciding where to go easy peasy.
