She thought I might be interested to see it and she's right.
Called Saizen, this Japanese franchise store covers 800 square meters of space with over 20,000 different kinds of merchandise—a virtual wasteland of all things cute.

Personally, I'm a sucker for wastelands. Wastelands are what I call stores that carry little items you can't resist, like colorful stationery, pens, notepads, and all sorts of giveaways, like zippered pouches in Japanese prints

shopping and gift bags

filing boxes and colored staples

tons of erasers

notepads

gift tags and boxes.

Lisa and Bobby tell me this store is originally called Daiso in Japan. But you know how Pinoys are, somebody copied the concept, took the name Daiso, so now the real Daiso franchise owners can't even use their own name.
I can so relate.
Jeroen talked to Bobby at the store and the overseas trainer, Mr. Jun Kato, who flew in from Japan with two colleagues.

Forget the copycat Daiso. Saizen is wasteland heaven, with everything priced at Php 85.
Jeroen and I spent one hour there and he didn't even complain. He was looking at restaurant stuff.

We were told many Japanese restaurant owners buy their stuff there because everything is cheap and available. I can imagine Japanese housewives buying household stuff and crafts there. I know I would. If I were starting a new home I would get everything here.

Whenever I'm abroad I like to look for the wasteland, I even dream about it. In Hong Kong I go to LCX, G.O.D. and Sogo. In Japan I go to Tokyu or Ginza Hands, Loft and Etoile.
When I used to get the blues I would look for a wasteland here, but there was none in Manila. Finally we have one.
I can always use extra earphone covers or a memory card organizer

all sorts of laptop cases

kisslock purses

oil blotters.

I promise you'll go nuts with the cute Margielic sponges

paper fans

and 100 kinds of cotton buds!

Best of all they accept credit cards, so feel free to hoard like I did. And I know I'm gonna be back.

i'd be careful with the cotton buds though. last time i used a generic brand, the cotton came off the stick and was stuck inside my ear. good thing my cousin was home and helped me out.

for example the Isetan mall from the philippines was copied originally from Japan... The Robinsons Malls naman natin...the original Robinsons Mall came from Singapore. Definitely not related. The Celine in the Philippines isnt related sa Celine sa States. So there, we are a country of copy cats, whether small fish or big fish...
But then if the merchandise is nice...who cares...basta happy ka sa binili mo

Well, I'll definitely visit this on my next trip back to the Philippines. P85 or $2 still isn't bad as they have way cuter things than our Dollar Tree stores here in the US. I just wish I lived closer to the Daiso stores out here.
