How to lose ten pounds in three days

This is an interesting diet recommended by Tingting Cojuangco in the Philippine Star.

She writes:

Do this 3-Day Diet. Believe me, it works. Follow the diet three days of the week until you reach your desired weight.

Drink four glasses of water or diet soda per day.
You can add herbs, salt, pepper, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard or ketchup to your food.

[You will] lose 10 pounds. It works based on a chemical reaction so you must eat everything in the diet without substituting.

This is scientifically proven. You can have as much water, tea, salt, pepper as you like but no other seasonings. After going on the three-day diet, you can eat normally for four days and then go back to it. But do not overeat on those four days.

This diet has been tried and tested, and is guaranteed effective. It worked on my staff and officers of the Philippine Public Safety College — they’ve gotten leaner and I saw the big difference myself!


(My note: Here's the diet. Unfortunately I can't take some of this stuff, so I wonder if I could survive and would it work if I just eat the stuff I can eat, marked like this ••)

DAY 1

Breakfast

Black coffee or tea (with 1-2 packets of Sweet & Low or Equal)
1/2 grapefruit or juice
1 toast with 1 tablespoon peanut butter •• (I can eat toast only)

Lunch

1/2 cup of tuna •• (can it be sashimi?)
1 toast ••
Black coffee or tea (with 1-2 packets of Sweet & Low or Equal)

Dinner

3 ounces any lean meat or chicken ••
1 cup green beans
1 cup carrots
1 apple ••
1 cup regular vanilla ice cream ••

DAY 2

Breakfast

Black coffee or tea (with 1-2 packets of Sweet & Low or Equal)
1 egg ••
1/2 banana ••
1 toast ••

Lunch

1 cup cottage cheese or tuna
8 regular saltine crackers ••

Dinner

2 beef franks ••
1 cup broccoli or cabbage
1/2 cup carrots
1/2 banana ••
1/2 cup regular vanilla ice cream ••

DAY 3

Breakfast

Black coffee or tea (with 1-2 packets of Sweet & Low or Equal)
5 regular saltine crackers ••
1 ounce cheddar cheese ••
1 apple ••

Lunch

1 boiled egg ••
1 toast ••
Black coffee or tea (with 1-2 packets of Sweet & Low or Equal)

Dinner

1 cup tuna •• (can it be sashimi?)
1 cup carrots
1 cup cauliflower
1 cup melon ••
1/2 cup regular vanilla ice cream ••

(My note: The rest I can't eat or drink. If I lose ten pounds that would be great. I would be back to the weight I was when I met Jeroen ten years ago.)

I don't know. This diet would make me crazy. Am not crazy about canned tuna either. I hope it's real tuna and not canned.

my Ninong Ron would always take the 3 day diet.

Hmm, sorry, pero I think that 3 diet thing is BS!

All you really need to do is never over eat and eat slowly. Take at least 20 mins to eat whatever meal you have because it takes 20 mins for our stomachs to get warmed up. After that, you'll feel busog and happy for hours and hours. When hungry again, do the same thing. And syemps, do the old fashion exercise. Pilates works for me and I don't find it boring.

i really think it would work... para akong ibon niyan... i just don't think i could do it perfectly, i can eat a canned tuna, the thing is, possibly, i'd cheat...

ate, you're skinny already but i understand..i want to try the diet rin..=)

Any which way you look at it, it's quite restrictive on calories so of course it will work. Doesn't matter if it's a so-called "chemical reaction", it's still very low in calories. Just subsitute the stuff you can't eat with something similar, like another vegetable, same idea. I'm assuming that since the list of allowable condiments is very specific, this means that all the cooked elements on this menu are being boiled in water or sauteed or grilled without any added fat. Remarkably different from the typical high-calorie "pinirito/ginisa/masebo" Pinoy diet.

You know what they say, the first 10-15 lbs you lose on any idea is usually water weight, followed by muscle if you aren't exercising during the diet (fat is ALWAYS the last to go). The suggestion of eating "normally" again for 4 days and returning to the 3 day diet is probably not a bad idea since it will help get you over any plateaus you may experience. Good luck, hope you don't get any dizzy spells (I would if I had to subsist on practically nothing for lunch!)

no no– you shouldn't try to skip meals. in fact if you eat 4-5 small meals a day (granted low calorie foods like fruits, veggies) you should lose weight and maintain it. talaga lang, if you start skipping meals, your body goes into "starvation" mode and will store more fats (heritage from caveman days raw). also woudln't it drive you insane to always be thinking of how hungry you are and how much you would like that krispy creme – about 12 of them?

you can do this chuva! just imagine yourself back in nyc living in a tiny apartment w a limited budget, spending all your money on clothes and partying so you don't have any real money left for food! haha
seriously it doesn't look that bad– you get ice cream for christsakes! personally i dont eat veggies so i would prolly drown on gallons & gallons of water. pero i dont need to lose weight, i need to lift weights!

it was mary prieto's diet :p i used to do this in college, it sort of worked but i cheated a lot! hahahaha.

OF COURSE you will lose weight, anybody on this "diet" will lose weight because of the super low calories taken, You cannot follow this diet for 2 weeks straight because, well the super low calories, you will have no energy, you will faint. On this "Starvation diet" you will first lose water, then lose muscle and lastly your fat will go. Thats why it can only be done 3 days straight, 4 days re-loading on carbs. They call this "diet" carbo cycling and yes you lose mega pounds OF WATER in the first 3 days. No fat will be lost untill you start to re-feed on the regular days to boost your metabolism and do it again So 3 days on the diet, 4 days off etc. Here are the calories for your day 1:

coffee - 0 calories
equal 2 sachets - 4 calories
1/2 grapefruit - 32 calories
toast sliced bread - 32 calories
peanut butter, 1 table spoon - 94 calories
Breakfast total - 162

tuna - 109 calories
toast sliced bread - 32 calories
coffee - 0 calories
equal 2 sachets - 4 calories
Lunch total - 145

3 oz skinless chicken breast - 141 calories
1 cup green beans - 34 calories
1 cup carrots - 40 calories
1 apple - 70 calories
1 cup regular vanilla ice cream - 280 calories
Dinner total - 565

TOTAL DAILY CALORIES - 872
with this low calories you should not even try to exercise, you will lose weight while getting a massage....duh

So have you all figured out why this article says, Lose 10 pounds in 3 days and not lose 10 pounds of FAT in 3 days?????

To lose 1 pound of fat you need to burn 3500 calories.
In order to lose 1 pound of fat and you are on a 1000 calorie diet (when female) and your resting metabolic rate is 1500 calories daily (meaning if you consume 1500 calories daily you will not gain or lose weight)
So with out exercise on a 1000 calorie diet you should lose 1 pound a week.
When you exercise / burn more calories you could speed this up to 1.5 pound/week or so.
Losing more "weight" than this is not healthy and it will not be fat alone but muscle as well.
You can lose 4-5 pounds a week of fat if you are overweight, than fat will fly off like crazy for the few month or so.....

My mum tried this diet a year ago and it works pero she was so grouchy. I want to try it pero with my sked, I think I need the college diet of little ulam + lots of rice. Hahaha.

if i eat all of that in 1 day will i lose 30lbs in 3 days?

i can't do this diet.. im soo love pandesal and white bread.. and nutella..waahh..

but whenever i want to lose weight i always do aerokaebo.. it works naman for me.. time consuming nga lang

the diet is so similar to SCARSDALE DIET except that the scardale diet is good for a week and can be repeated the week right after, following the same diet plan of the previous week. even the weight that is projected to be shed off in a week by the scarsdale diet is the same as what the 10-day diet assures. the food, drinks and the seasonings that the 10-day diet allow are practically the same.

I read in the Scarsdale diet book, that it is supposed to be used for cardiac patients who need to lose weight as fast as they can because of their cardiac condition.


hi! i've tried this before except that mine didnt have ice cream and beef. it worked for me since summer but after my body got used it so it doesn't work anymore.

Yup this is very effective.

It's actually part of a complete 2 week diet called the Scarsdale Diet.

My mom discovered this diet like 10 years ago, and has been on it for maintainance ever since.

It's so effective that it's unadvisable to be on the
diet for 4 weeks straight. You should go back to your regular eating habits on the 3rd week, and go back on it on the 4th.

hi! i stumbled upon your blog; i hope you don't mind me traipsing around here. ;-)
i tried this once before and it was effective because it actually conditions your stomach so that its capacity becomes smaller you get full easily (a colleague explained this to me. heehee). but i think that that afterwards, it really has to be coupled with exercise and a balanced diet.
